  • Sanitation Projects – design, supply and installation of rural school sanitation systems and VIP toilets.

  • Road Maintenance – vegetation management, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure road safety and durability.

  • Plumbing Services – installation, maintenance and repair of high-quality plumbing systems.

  • Security Infrastructure – supply and installation of durable security fencing.

  • Electrical Infrastructure – design, installation and maintenance of compliant electrical systems.

Our delivery model is driven by structure, accountability, and quality assurance. Field teams of skilled foremen and artisans operate under the oversight of dedicated site agents or contracts managers. These leaders report to our Technical Manager, who is directly accountable to our Director, Sinenhlahla Chamane Pr. Tech Eng. This integrated management structure ensures projects are executed efficiently, within scope, budget, and timelines, every time.

Construction Projects

Empilweni Trading has successfully contributed as a trusted sub-contractor to a range of public sector projects, delivering high-quality outcomes across roads and water infrastructure, building construction, sanitation, plumbing, and security installations. We are adept at responding to project-specific requirements, whether technical, environmental, or social,  with tailored solutions that address engineering challenges, complex ground conditions, skills development needs, stakeholder engagement, and social facilitation.

Construction Project 1

CIVILS : Roads and Structures:

  • Supply and installation of gabions under the realignment of National Route 3, Section 2, from Key Ridge (Km 2.8) to Hammarsdale (Km 8.825) under Sub-Contract KR-E06 for SANRAL.

  • Protective stone pitching works as part of the upgrade of National Route 3, Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park (Km 30.6) to Ashburton (Km 0.8) for Rumdel (Pty) Ltd — completed September 2024.

  • V-drain joint sealing under the upgrade of National Route 3, Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park (Km 30.6) to Ashburton (Km 0.8) for Rumdel (Pty) Ltd — completed September 2024.

  • Construction of 250mm thick continuously reinforced concrete pavement for the upgrade of National Route 3, Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park (Km 30.6) to Ashburton (Km 0.8) under Sub-Contract No. N003-023-2017/9-CPG032 for Rumdel (Pty) Ltd — completed August 2024.

  • Construction of Mathunzi to Ngoqongo Regravel Road Phase 2 and causeway for Big 5 Hlabisa Municipality — completed August 2024.

  • Construction of 250mm thick continuously reinforced concrete pavement under the upgrade of National Route 3, Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park to Ashburton for Rumdel (Pty) Ltd — completed February 2024.

  • Construction of a 100mm thick interlayer for the upgrade of National Route 3, Sections 2 and 3, from Lynnfield Park to Ashburton under Sub-Contract No. N003-023-2017/9-CPG21 for Rumdel (Pty) Ltd — completed October 2022.

  • Lower Thukela Off-Takes — construction of St Christopher pump station and associated works for Zamisanani Projects — completed September 2019.

  • Betterment and re-graveling works of D1823 for KZN Department of Transport — completed December 2017.

  • Kwabhoboza Interchange landscaping and grassing works as subcontractor to Leomat Construction — completed March 2017.

  • Betterment and re-graveling works of L2364 — completed January 2017.

  • Re-alignment of existing double guardrails and stone pitching works along Ramp A for Leomat Construction — completed June 2017.

    Water & Sanitation

    • Sub-contractor to M & C Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd on multiple sewer reticulation networks in Nordale Township, KwaMsane Township, and St Lucia, including pump installation at Mtubatuba Sewer Pump Station.

    • Delivered a Sanitation Programme at Mountain View Primary School for the Department of Education.

    • Installed water meters for JOAT Group and Lesira Teq Ltd.

    General Building & Infrastructure

    • Sub-contractor to Motheo Construction Group for supply and installation of glazing, roof coverings, and tiling.

    • Partnered with M & C Consulting Engineers on the KwaShushu Hot Spring and Ntunjambili Mountain Tourism Infrastructure Project (ablution facilities, site infrastructure). Completed Feb 2024.

    • Completed a sanitation programme at Mountain View Primary School for Siyazama Housing.

    • Constructed market stalls at Ngwelezane Taxi Rank JV for uMhlathuze Municipality.

    Fencing & Security Installations

    • Appointed by WBHO Construction for the KR-F15 Subcontract (site offices and laboratory fencing). Completed April 2024.

    • Between 2015–2019, successfully delivered multiple school fencing projects across rural KwaZulu-Natal for the Independent Development Trust (IDT).
