Farming

Empilweni Farming was established in response to the urgent local need for consistent access to healthy, farm-fresh food.

Through sustainable practices, we ensure a continuous supply of quality produce to support food security initiatives, provincial feeding schemes, and both public and private sector clients.

We are currently feeding 1000 high school students as part of the Department of Education School Feeding Scheme. We supply fresh, nourishing produce, from farm to table.

Services:

The Farming Division contributes to food security through the supply of fresh agricultural produce and reliable food distribution services. Our produce offerings include the following:

  • Poultry – Chicken broilers, egg production and chicken layers.
  • Poultry Supply – One-day-old chickens and live chickens, delivering high-quality produce to both public and private sector clients.
  • Livestock Farming – Goats.
  • Crop Farming – Spinach, cabbages, beetroot, chillies, green peppers and other seasonal vegetables.
  • Fresh Produce Supply – Supplying the general public with fresh vegetables, including convenient combo-packets that, once cooked, provide a full Sunday lunch.

EMPILWINI TRADING owns land just outside of Mtubatuba and after clearing, fencing, building chicken houses and putting in boreholes for irrigation, farming activities could commence. Produce being farmed includes cabbage, onions, green peppers, spinach, chillies and chicken. Initially the idea was to grow for the Department of Education school feeding scheme, however, oversupply enabled us to sell directly to individuals. We began selling a combo-packet to consumers, that, once cooked, comprises a full Sunday lunch.
