From humble beginnings to a recognised multi-disciplinary business, our journey has been shaped by resilience, adaptability and a clear commitment to excellence. Every milestone tells the story of how Empilweni Trading has grown,  from a small construction practice into a trusted partner in construction, farming & food supply and equipment hire, always guided by our values of Quality, Reliability, and Trust.

- 2013 - Company Founded

Empilweni Trading is officially registered, entering the construction sector with a focus on civil works and infrastructure projects.

- 2015 - Expanding Footprint

The company delivers projects across KwaZulu-Natal, earning a reputation for quality, reliability, and trust in construction services.

- 2020 - Farming Division Launched

In response to food security challenges, Empilweni establishes a farming and food supply division, ensuring continuous access to healthy produce.

- 2021 - Equipment Hire Introduced

A new division is launched, providing equipment & décor hire solutions for corporates, caterers, and private clients.

TODAY – A Multi-Disciplinary Business

Empilweni Trading is now a CIDB-registered and NHBRC-compliant company, proudly operating across construction, farming & food supply and equipment hire.

Sinenhlahla Chamane, Pr Tech Eng, is the visionary behind Empilweni Trading. With roots in civil engineering and a passion for sustainable development, she transformed a consulting practice into a multi-disciplinary business. Her leadership continues to guide Empilweni’s growth and impact.

About our Founder

Sinenhlahla Chamane Pr. Tech Eng holds a National Diploma in Civil Engineering from Mangosuthu University of Technology and furthered her studies at Durban University of Technology, where she obtained a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering.

She is a registered Professional Technologist with ECSA, FSAICE, MIMESA, MSAT as well as with NHRBC as a Competent Person – Engineer and builder.

With over 20 years of experience across consulting, construction and client-based roles, Sinenhlahla is a prominent leader in the South African engineering sector.

She serves as a Governing Council Member of ECSA (7th Term), Chairperson of SAICE’s Finance and Auditing Committee, an IMESA Council Member as well as a celebrated
MUT Engineering alumna.

She is a 2023 Standard Bank Empower Her finalist, a 2024 CIDB ERWIC Award winner for Construction Woman of the Year and the 2025 SAICE Technologist of the Year. In 2025 she was awarded by Mangosuthu University of Technology the MUT Spirit Award in honour of MUT Founder, recognising acts of generosity, volunteerism and service that embody MUT’s core values: transforming lives through knowledge, integrity and Ubuntu.
